mission
We are sowing a ‘future and a hope’ into the village children of Papua, Indonesia, through Godly education and relationship with Jesus Christ.
vision
Not only individual children but whole communities will benefit from these courses as, one by one, the children will learn how God sees and values them and as they learn about and experience His love in a secure environment, it will reach out into their families and communities, and even the nation. We can also see this program reaching other areas of the world as it grows in one area, one course at a time.
methods
We aim to establish several village courses using a special village program from the ACE school system (a Christian-based, individualized learning system that is written predominantly in English). This will eliminate the need for children to go to the city and be lost there.
We will also provide employment for some local Papuans in the schools as teachers and monitors (helpers). We also see these locals as a point of outreach into the community, in time drawing parents together to learn what the children have also been learning about God and life.
We want to see these centres led by locals who are from the children’s families and villages, thus involving and encouraging the whole village community.
how we achieve this
We want to establish this special future for children in Papua, Indonesia, by finding people to enjoy the journey with us. One course at a time, we will need to enlist the aid of village leaders to find or donate the learning ‘premise’. Our part of the agreement will be to provide teachers and all resources including the daily items the children will need.
These courses will not be ‘ordinary’. We want to introduce these children to a journey of education that will be fun, creative, and based on how God sees them so they can find the unique plans He has for each of them. Learning will become like a treasure hunt as they each discover their own potential and the potential of others, which will in turn impact the future of their community.
Not only will they study English through booklets that are fun and interesting, but we hope to add occasional outings and environmental activities that will give them enjoyment and a pride in what they are doing.
The staff will be equally important and as relationships are formed, everyone will work together to make big dreams come true for each child. Then as the children move forward towards fulfilling lives, they will not only impact their families and communities but the nation.
It is hoped that some children may be able to attend an ACE school after they have finished this one-year course. Even if they don’t they will have a head start towards better education and future jobs than many others.
